Through the practice of meditation, we open ourselves with gentleness and glimpse that goodness—rather than confusion—is the unconditional ground of our existence. We begin to see our potential as genuine and compassionate human beings. Open to all.

The Art of being Human: level 1 is the introductory course to a series of contemplative workshops that come under the umbrella of Shambhala Training.  The Art of being Human: level 1 is suited for both beginning and experienced meditators. The simple and profound technique of mindfulness and awareness is the basis of a secular path of meditation, which can benefit people of any spiritual tradition and way of life. Shambhala Training is the study and practice of warriorship - the tradition of human bravery and leadership. This path shows how to take challenges of daily life in our modern society as opportunities for both contemplative practice and social action.

This weekend workshop offers an introduction for complete beginners and further inspiration with a fresh look at the spiritual path for those already familiar with meditation. The programme will consist of meditation practice, talks and discussion.

Teaching this programme is one of our senior teachers, Shastri John Seex.  John Seex has been a member of Shambhala and a student of the Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche for over twenty years. He works as a psychotherapist, a psychotherapy teacher, serving on the faculty of Karuna Training in Europe. He and his wife, Sophie (also in Shambhala) have two children and live near Stroud. He has a strong connection to Shambhala Meditation and has been teaching Running with the Mind of Meditation.

If you register and pay before 31 October you can benefit from our Early Bird price of £80.  After 31 October, the full standard fee of £100 will be payable.

Lunch is not included, however refreshments will be available.
